PE Challenge for October
PLEASE join your child in the FAMILY PE Challenge.
Ask your child about it and watch for their log sheet to arrive home soon. Together log miles during the month of October to add up to the marathon distance (26.2 miles). It can be any aerobic activity...walk, bike, skate, hike, swim...even count the distances covered in any sports game. Approximate distances will be accepted...so add them up.

Completing the PE challenge will earn your child a 26.2 Mileage Club Charm and a chance to be in a drawing to win “PE” teacher for a morning or afternoon.
For more information go to the PE webpage and click on the tab “Challenges” for more details:

Student Leadership Corner
We are hosting a Coat Drive! Coming to you from October 2 - 20! Let's help our neighbors in Roseville. Local charities include Gathering Inn, WEAVE, Children's Receiving Home, Stand Up Placer and many others.

Please bring new and reusable coats of any size and put them in the barrels in the office as you come
to school, or give them to your Leadership Ambassador on Fridays.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Spanish Language Committee
Another area where we had a lot of interest on our parent survey was in having Spanish language available to students. We were unable to secure a teacher with the program we had been looking at, so we have decided to take some time to explore what we are really looking for in regards to foreign language at Stoneridge. Laurissa Freels will be heading up a committee to explore this topic and all parents are invited to attend. Please email Laurissa at mrs.freels@me.com if you are interested. We would like to explore both during school and after school options.

Stoneridge Family Blog 9/22 #jogathon

We are so glad you are here!

Jog-a-Thon

The jog-a-thon is coming this Friday and we are so excited! This event is our biggest fundraiser of the year-- last year our jog-a-thon raised over $40,000 to support our school! All of our fundraisers support our students directly with materials and experiences tied to our school-wide focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). What does this look like at school? Every student K-5 participates in Project Lead the Way STEM activities in the classroom and receive additional art and science lessons during school day. You'll notice new technology in classrooms to make learning more engaging and interactive for teachers and kids. Fundraising also supports professional learning for our teachers, and even our new House system for building a positive school-wide community. If every student raised $100 it would add up to $60,000--wow!
Click here to read all of the details and find out about the fabulous prizes! A Stoneridge crystal? Lunch with a teacher? An hour with the principal? Just $20 gets you glow bracelets and necklaces for the GLOW dance party!

We need helpers for the jog a thon, too. Please sign up here to join us for a ton of fun! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080944acab22a75-stoneridge4

The jog times are as follows:
4th and 5th 9:10 am - 9:30
2nd and 3rd 9:35 - 9:55
1st 10:00 - 10:20
TK and Kinder 10:25 - 10:45

Earlier this year, we asked for family input regarding our fundraisers and we appreciate your feedback! Although we established some broad draft goals last year, we have adjusted our goals based on your input. With the proceeds this year, we will continue to support PLTW and our STEAM focus, continue to provide additional art and science for all students, and we hope to be able to provide additional technology to students, particularly in our K-1 classrooms. Thank you for your support! We have already raised over $2,000!

In terms of donations, we have had some parent interest in doing a one time donation for the entire year rather than turning in donations throughout the year in smaller amounts. You can definitely do that! We appreciate any amount, but to hit our PTC fundraising goal for the year of $90,000 it works out to roughly $150 per student-- and you can donate right at the Stoneridge Shop website at http://www.stoneridgeshop.com/donate-today/. But do keep in mind that our events aren't all about fundraising-- we love any chance we have to connect and have fun as a school community! Thank you for supporting our students!

September 15 #jogathon #kimmiebrown

The Jog-a-thon is Coming!

Our annual jog-a thon is right around the corner! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and a TON of fun! Envelopes were sent home last Friday with information about pledges and important dates are also included. The run is happening on September 29th!
Click here to read all of the details and find out about the fabulous prizes! A Stoneridge crystal? Lunch with a teacher? An hour with the principal? Just $20 gets you glow bracelets and necklaces for the GLOW dance party!

T-shirt order forms were also sent home and the ordering deadline is September 20th-- and they can also be purchased in our online Stoneridge Shop at stoneridgeshop.com

Last year our jog-a-thon raised $55,000 which provides our students with a variety of STEAM opportunities- everything from hands on science experiences, art lessons, technology, and much more. These special opportunities would not be possible without our amazing PTC and your support. Let's see if we can beat our total from last year!

If  every student donates $100, we would raise $60,000 in ONE DAY-- basically the cost of a Starbucks coffee a day for one month. And whether you choose to donate $5 or $500, we appreciate your support.

Stoneridge has adopted Kimmie Brown Elementary in Texas

Stoneridge has adopted Kimmie Brown Elementary in Dayton, Texas, where staff and families have been severely impacted by the floods. I have been in touch with their principal their about what their students need and how to best support them- they are completing a specific needs spreadsheet right now. In the meantime, we are starting a gift card drive so that school staff can purchase items immediately, and gift cards can also be sent in waves. Their principal Jessica Ott shared that Wal Mart is close by. To support them right away, will be collecting Wal Mart gift cards in the Stoneridge office starting today. In the next week, we will also be sharing more information as to how our Stoneridge community can help with specific items such as backpacks, shoes, clothing, and household items.

Thank you for opening your hearts to support this school in need!

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Stoneridge Family Blog 9/1 #stoneridgeshop #spiritwear

Happy Friday! I hope you are ready for a wonderful weekend. Just a reminder that there is no school Monday in honor of Labor Day. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday! I wanted share that over all the parking lot is going very smoothly and we continue to make small adjustments to make it safer and more efficient. A few things to remember: please use crosswalks when crossing with students and wait to be waved across by staff. If you are dropping off in the car line, please keep moving forward and do not exit your car. If you need to exit, please park your car. Also, once you are done dropping off or picking up, please merge slowly into the pass-by lane to exit the lot. Occasionally it may take longer for the car ahead to load or you may be behind the little buses. If you still need to pick up or drop off, please wait to move forward and do not go around the car ahead. Thank you for your help in keeping our kids safe!

Have a wonderful weekend! We look forward to seeing you all at the Ice Cream Social on the 6th!
