Stoneridge, WE DID IT!!! We successfully brought the holidays to 140 children affected by the Camp Fire! Without your kind hearts, generosity and willingness to shop during an already crazy busy time, none of this would have been possible. We are so excited to share the pictures of all those smiling faces when we deliver next weekend! It’s true- it takes a village and we are all so proud to be a part of such an amazing one! Stay tuned...we will have pictures to share early next week.

We’d like to give a HUGE shout out to the Spencer family. Your creativity in fundraising will make a huge difference for all those children with expensive taste and we are certain they will be shocked when they receive their new BMX bikes, Chromebooks, Polaroid Cameras and ipod airbuds. To ALL of you that went above and beyond, thank you so much! It doesn’t go unnoticed. We are grateful for you every day. Thank you, Stoneridge Preschool, for being our partners in "Sharing the Love". We make an incredible team!

Our spring Carnival at Stoneridge Elementary is focused on having a fun family event for our school community of which the funds raised will be used for two programs at Stoneridge Elementary which include, Project Lead the Way and STEAM, which introduces students to science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can get involved with helping plan the spring carnival come to our first meeting tomorrow night at 6 PM at the Starbucks on East Roseville Parkway. Hope to see you there!

Girls On The Run is coming --- year 6 at Stoneridge! #GOTR 12/7

Girls on the Run will be starting up in February 2018. For those that don’t know about the program, this will be the 6th year at Stoneridge!

Girls on the Run is a program for girls in 3rd-5th grade that encourages girls to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. And you do not need to be a runner to participate! Each season, girls gain a better understanding of who they are and what's important to them, the value of teamwork and healthy relationships and how they can have a positive impact on the world. Girls also make a meaningful contribution to their community through a team-organized Community Impact Project. Physical activity is woven into the program to inspire an appreciation for fitness and healthy habits and teach life skills including treating others with care, practicing gratitude and managing emotions. Each season culminates with a Girls on the Run 5K event. This celebratory, non-competitive event provides girls with a sense of accomplishment and instills the value of goal setting at a young age.

The 10-week season runs from February 11 through May 11. Our current program fee is $165 per girl. This includes:
▪ 10 weeks/20 lessons led by trained coaches (all coaching teams are background checked and have CPR/First Aid certification)
▪ A healthy snack at each practice
▪ All curriculum materials
▪ Girls on the Run Program t-shirts
▪ Girls on the Run water bottle
▪ Registration for Girls on the Run 5K event
▪ Girls on the Run 5K medal

Scholarships are available. For more information, please check out this great blog post on the GOTR side with accompanying video: https://www.gotrsac.org/News/post/new-study-demonstrates-that-girls-on-the-run-transforms-young-girls-lives

November 19 #frostball #thankful

Dear Stoneridge Families,
I hope that this post finds you enjoying your break with family and friends. As fires continue to burn in California, I am reminded how quickly life can change and how powerful community is as people come together across the state to support those in need. Hopefully the rain forecast this coming week will bring relief and clearer air with it.
I am also so thankful for our Stoneridge community of staff, families, and students.
Our staff: I am thankful for our teachers who work hard every day to not only help students learn academics, but to also fill their hearts with lessons of love and kindness that will last a lifetime. I am thankful for our maintenance team who keeps our school clean, safe, and looking beautiful each day--they are working this week as well to clear gutters and do upkeep that they can't do when kids are at school. I am thankful for our office staff who welcomes guests and parents with smiles and warmth every day, who hand out bandaids and ice to students with owies, and who keep our whole school organized and running in ways most people never see. I am thankful for our meal duties and food services staff. Our food services team serves about 260 hot lunches every day to our students, keeping them fed with three yummy choices! Our meal duties are amazing, and they do more than keep kids well supervised at lunch-- they sang, laughed, and even danced last week during our indoor lunch recess! I am also thankful for our support staff-- our nurse, instructional assistants, speech and  occupational therapists, psychologist, and psych field workers who provide individualized support for our students each day. I am thankful for our librarian who inspires readers and leaders, and am thankful for our PE team who works to build happy and healthy kids!

Our families and students: I am so thankful for our families who send their most precious treasures to us each day. We love seeing our families on campus, whether it's at pickup or drop off and a quick smile or conversation, to volunteering in classrooms, changing out the birthday board, helping with events, r just sending a quick note of thanks-- our families are the best around. Thank you for all you do to support our work with your amazing kids. I am so thankful From preschoolers and eager TK Big Dogs to our almost-middle schooler 5th graders, our students will change the world! I am so thankful for their enthusiasm for learning and the passion and compassion they bring each day! We have much to be thankful for, and I am honored to be a part of this community.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We look forward to seeing you all on the Monday the 26th.

November 12

As we head into this week before Thanksgiving, I would like to share how thankful I am for our Stoneridge community of students, staff, and families. There are so many wonderful things happening at Stoneridge that provide our students with a rich and engaging educational experience, and this happens because of the passion, hard work, support, and commitment of everyone involved in our school. Thank you so much for being partners in your child's education and life. We are so grateful to spend each day with each and every student! Every day is truly a gift!

Also, our thoughts are with everyone in California affected by the fires. This week, we are hopeful for progress and will be keeping a close eye on air quality related to smoke in our area. As in August, we will adjust our schedules as needed to allow for indoor PE and recess related to poor air quality.

Have a wonderful week!

October 29 #jog #breakfast #lunch #GATE

We just hit $35,000!

Thank you so much to our Stoneridge families, friends, and sponsors! At the end of last week, we were at $32,000, and after today we are up to $35,000! Wow! That's $3,000 in just 3 days-- amazing! We celebrated with an AWESOME glow party after hitting the $10,000 mark and we are well on our way to reaching our final $50,000 goal. Kids have earned a spacial bag tag, we'll be having a pizza party, and an extra recess... YAY!!! We are still accepting donations both online and at school. Thank you for helping us STEAM up Stoneridge with new Chromebooks and our amazing science docent program. With just $15,000 more, we can finish out the Chromebooks, Ipads, Science Docent and UKELELES! And a special thank you to teachers who have planned fun incentives for their classes. Thank you for helping us to have fun and raise money for the best kids on the planet!

Parent Conferences November 5th-9th
Next week, we will be on a minimum day schedule all week long for parent/teacher conferences. Every fall, teachers conference with every family to share student growth and celebrate successes! We look forward to seeing you next week and teachers are excited to share how far your child has come this year. Thank you for being such an important part of your child's education! School will be dismissed at 12:30 each day next week. Students will still have a lunch time at school and hot lunch will be served.

What's New From Food Services?
Food services has some exciting news -- starting November 5th there will be three choices on the lunch menu, and one will always be a vegetarian option. We are excited to expand the choices from the kitchen. Also, we are exploring the possibility of offering breakfast each day at Stoneridge. We would need about 50 families to participate in order for it to be a go at our school. Please complete this brief form to help us gauge interest in having a breakfast program at Stoneridge. Completing this form does not obligate you to purchase breakfast, but does help us to see if we have sufficient interest in the program. We have also included the menu from Thomas Jefferson where they have just started a breakfast program so you can get an idea about the offerings.

Also, thank you for being patient in our pick up and drop off line. It all goes smoothly when we work together. Be sure to abide by all signs around our school, and do not park in red zones or areas marked as no parking zones. Parking in those areas limits traffic flow and blocks the view of drivers turning onto Alexandra. We work hard to be good neighbors to the homeowners around our school.

Have a fantastic week!

Welcome to our HOUSE! At Stoneridge, we work hard to build a feeling of community at our school. We are all part of our Stoneridge family, and are proud to be Timberwolves! We are also in our third year of having a our house system to build community school-wide and across the grades. Our house system provides opportunities for students to connect school-wide and also to be a part of a smaller community within their house. Our house system is also how we teach students social skills-- everything from showing random acts of kindness to how we behave at an assembly through our SPARK focus and Stoneridge Essentials. SPARK stands for Safety, Positivity, Attitude, Responsibility, and Kindness, and these are a school-wide focus all year. Each month we will focus on these skills and teach them in classrooms, and also through our house meetings which happen once each month. Students can earn house points by showing the essentials around campus. Starting August 27th, we will start each Monday in the quad at 8:50 with the flag salute and a flag ceremony to celebrate the winning house from the prior week!

We also have SPARK rallies once a month to celebrate as houses and as a whole school. Rallies and house meetings happen on Friday afternoons, and new this year no schedule changes will need to be made for K and TK students to participate. This also means our spirit wear days are flip flopped from last year. We will wear house colors on Fridays, and our Stoneridge colors or spirit wear on Mondays. Spirit wear will be available starting this week in the Stoneridge Shop!

Top 5 Traffic Reminders

We are so excited to have our returning students back and also to welcome our new families to our beautiful school on the hill! With so many new families, I'd like to take this opportunity to share our top 5 reminders about drop off and pickup as we kick off our second full week of school.

  1. Be alert for students crossing at Alexandra before and after school.
  2. In the car lines, please do not exit your car-- and do keep moving forward. If you need to get out for any reason, please park in a space and use one of our crosswalks to enter campus. This helps keep the line moving.
  3. Drop off is allowed at the curb only. The other lane is our flow by lane for exiting cars.
  4. As students and families enter and exit campus, please use sidewalks and crosswalks.
  5. Now that we are past the first full week of school, parent drop off is not allowed at classrooms in grades 1-5. Students may enter through the gates. Our staff will ensure they arrive safely to class and have a great day!
Thank you so much for your cooperation and patience! Our number one priority is student safety. Please let our office know if you have a question or concern about traffic. I'd love to hear from you!

August 13 Welcome back!

Welcome back!
What a fun first two days! We are so happy to have all of our students back, and we love seeing our families, too! We hope your child had a fabulous start to the 2018-19 school year! Although we are only on our third day, there is so much to celebrate! In this blog you'll find information about our house system, Monday minimum days, and pickup/dropoff reminders.

Welcome to our house! If you are new to Stoneridge, you have probably heard about this a little bit already-- we have an amazing house system here and we are in year three! Our houses help us to build community and also teach expectations at Stoneridge. It's similar to Hogwarts-- and all students and staff are in a house. So far, our new students in grades 1-5 have been sorted and TK and Kindergarten will be soon! We will be sending out more information about houses and our Stoneridge Essentials soon. On Friday, we had our kickoff rally for grades 1-5 and it was a ton of fun! Every Friday is a spirit day and we wear house colors or Stoneridge spirit wear. Look for a link soon in  the Stoneridge Shop!

Drop off and Pickup Reminders:
Our gates open at 8:35 in the morning. K students should wait outside the gate for their teacher, and students in grades 1-5 may enter at 8:35 when the bell rings. Parents, now that the first two days are over, we will return to our usual morning routine-- and no parent drop off at classrooms in any grades. We have a warning bell at 8:45, and another bell to start school at 8:50. The side gates close at 8:50, so if you arrive after that please drop off in front of the main office. Thank you!

At the end of the day, thank you for your patience in the car line. We will keep you moving forward and it goes fairly quickly once we get into the groove.
Mondays are always Minimum Days and school is dismissed at 1:52 every Monday.

June 3rd #glowparty #fieldday #celebration

Greetings Stoneridge Families!
This will be the final blog post of our 2017-18 school year-- the year has flown by! We are so looking forward to our final four days together and we will be closing out the year in grand style! Tomorrow we have our 5th grade celebration, our Senior Walk, and our jog-a-thon dance party! Later this week, we have our Kindergarten Year End Celebration on the 6th, yearbook signing party, and more! We also closed out last week with a FANTASTIC field day - so much fun for our students! Thank you to Robin Gates, Patti Hales, and Mindy Andreasen for organizing and to ALL of the volunteers who made the day amazing for all of our kids! So much joy all day long! Last week we also had our Bucket Band and 5th grade Musical Performance, and our Volunteer Tea. We have much to celebrate at Stoneridge!
Thank you for being such a wonderful community! I have loved my first year at Stoneridge and working hard to learn all about what makes Stoneridge so special, and getting to know all  of the students and families. It is an honor and a privilege to be the leader of such an incredible school!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Kloczko
