Sunday, April 24

Happy Monday! Welcome to the next edition of 'What crazy thing was Mrs. Brooks up to this weekend?' Well, on Saturday, I completed a mud, obstacle run: A 5k full of crazy obstacles, mud, and a huge water slide to finish. I did not want to do it. All of my team members were not able to participate, so it was just me. And, I was so nervous I would not be able to do some of the obstacles. I didn't want to fail. But, I did it and loved every minute! It felt so good!
Then, it was back to reality and off to my son's baseball tournament in Manteca, at the Field of Dreams. Good news, bad news- they kept winning! You know what that means...they keep playing. In the end, it all paid off and they won the tournament. Their team has been struggling, but they really came together this weekend. It is so great to see hard work pay off! I share because that is what our kids are doing everyday. Working hard and pushing themselves. Celebrate each success and then keep working! How great is that?
I have to share one more thing, to provide some parent perspective. My son made an error running bases. It was a pretty big error and my heart was breaking for him. It is so hard to watch our kids make mistakes. After the game, the only thing he was worried about was the outfielder that caught the 'bomb' he hit. He wasn't even thinking about the mistake running the bases. My own lessons out of that were it is ok to let our kids make mistakes, that is how we learn. And, let your child process what and how they need to process. It is mind boggling how different their perspective is from ours. Parents, we can do this! It is not easy.

Cooperative Winners: We had an assembly on Friday where we recognized our Cooperative students in each class. The students are so excited to cheer for one another and see their friends get awards. We will have our last assembly of the year in May and we will be recognizing Kind students. Honestly, it will be near impossible for teachers to choose just one!

PTC Meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/26 at 3:45pm. We will meet in person and on Zoom. We will talk about openings next year and how you can help. We would love to have you there!
