I hope you have had a great week and are enjoying this cool fall weather-- even some rain! I wanted to say thank you to all of the parents who contacted me regarding safety and unsafe drivers this week. I was out by the birthday sign the last two mornings and learned a lot. We will continue to focus on having a safe zone for kids during drop off and pickup. A few reminders and things I noticed while out on Alexandra this week:
- We are still having a few parents make illegal u-turns on Alexandra in front of the birthday sign. I did stop and talk to a few parents and reminded them that it is not only illegal but also unsafe to make a u-turn in that area. One of the issues I saw was Stoneridge Elementary parents dropping off/parking in the white zone. The white zone is only for our Stoneridge Preschool families. You may not know that we have almost 100 preschoolers with special needs on our campus every day. Our Stoneridge parking lot moves quickly and has several drop off lanes for you. Please do not park or drop off TK-5th grade students in the white preschool loading zone or in the spots marked for preschool in our lot.
- Please be extra careful when walking or driving around our school. I have seen parents almost be hit in our crosswalks while texting or using a phone while walking.
- Is it safe? Is it illegal? As you drive consider these tow questions. It will keep our kids safe!
- EVERYONE on our campus is a teacher. Kids are learning by watching YOU. Are you modeling excellent behavior? Every thing we do and word we say is noticed by our kids. Let's work together and set a great example with our words and actions.
- Are you passionate about safety? Would you like to help out in the morning or afternoon at the crosswalk or around the school? We are looking for volunteers to help out in the mornings. Please click here if you are interested. Safety Team Parent Volunteers
